An Oatmeal stout by definition has oats in the grist, resulting in a pleasant, full flavor without being grainy. Very minimal hop flavor is present. This beer is an exception however, because we
dry hop coffee grounds into the fermenter for a rich coffee flavor. We used the Day Break Blend, from our friends at Steady State Roasters in
Carlsbad, which attributes low acidity and very little to no bitterness. The Brazilian blend of coffee, gives a rich chocolate flavor, with caramel notes from start to finish.

Barrel-Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout

WestBrew has turned 1 year old, and to celebrate we
made Midnight Sunset. Midnight Sunset is a combination of two stouts: barrel-aged Seal Cove Oatmeal Stout which sat in Woodinville Whiskey barrels for a year, and our Anniversary Imperial Oatmeal Stout. This beer combines notes of bourbon and oak from the barrel aged Seal Cove, and rich dark chocolate and roasted marshmallows from our Anniversary stout. On the nose it has tons of bourbon complimented with a rich mildly acidic espresso roast. The body is nice and viscous sure to leave your pallet with a creamy mouthfeel. Raise a toast to a joyous first year celebration, with so much more to come.
